To all that like to look at my pictures.....
I haven't posted any pictures since July and before that it was quiet sporadic. Here's why.... Life with 3 kids keeps us really busy. My laptop died and was without a computer for awhile. My grandmother passed away on the day we returned from our Cozumel trip. School started for all 3 kids, which has been a huge adjustment for the middle child, starting middle school and has multiple learning disabilities. My mother has been diagnosed with cancer. Life with a 3 year old has been a trip all in itself, temper tantrums, "No" is her favorite word to use and the all out "strong-willed child" has sent us into a whole new way of negotiating. So many unexpected things have happened in the last 4 months that blogging or taking pictures was the last thing I could do. Now that I have a break, kids are still in their pj's at 4:00 pm, I'm letting the laundry go and the floor needs to be moped, I decided to post pictures of our Cozumel trip and try and blog again. I have scheduled pictures for everyday in the month of January. Maybe I can get back to blogging....we will see with a demanding 3 year old in the house...Ha!
Our trip:
We left on a Friday and returned home on a Monday. August 9-12. It was the most amazing place we've ever been. Since we haven't been able to travel in years, it was probably even more amazing for us. We flew from San Antonio to Houston, then flew Houston to Cozumel. We had so many airline miles to use, we flew first class there and back, which made the trip even better.
We were the first 2 through customs in Cozumel. Strange, to say the least, all the customs guards were standing there with AR's and quiet intimidating. We had rented a Jeep, drove around the island, visited one of the Mayan ruins, San Gervasio, and checked in to our resort around 3. Driving in another country is very different from driving in the states. Bill, however, was able to maneuver around cars, mopeds, motorcycles, and people like he had lived there his whole life....I guess that's what happens when you grow up in Houston or it's just genetic. We stayed at a resort called the Melia and it was really nice and clean. We had a room on the first floor, a huge over sized jacuzzi and we were able to walk right out onto the beach from our room. Bill had a huge flower arrangement and champagne waiting for me/us. (It was our 17 wedding anniversary we were celebrating too.) We immediately changed and headed straight to the beach. The day we arrived, the water infront of our resort was so clear that you could see your feet standing in 4 feet of water, it was so amazing to us. We are used to Texas beaches and can't see your feet past 2 inches.

The resort next to ours, El Cozumelino, is were we snorkeled most of the time while we were there. The water was crystal clear with little seaweed and there were fish who swam with us. It was like swimming in an aquarium.

The food at resort was pretty good but nothing like it was on the beach, which we ate lunch at the second day (Saturday). We ate at a place called Senor Iguanas and had shrimp tacos and shrimp nachos and both were absolutely wonderful. They don't have power on the Caribbean side of the island, so everything is cooked with propane.

On Sunday, the day before we came home, we went to an Eco Park, called Punta Sur, which means South Point, and it was like heaven on Earth. It was the most beautiful place we have ever seen. I was beyond amazing. We snorkeled out to a reef, laid on the beach and played in the water. We saw a barracuda, a sand dollar the size of a cd disc, feather dusters, and lots of coral. It was just amazingly beautiful. The wind blew and all you could hear was the waves lapping onto the shore. It was truly heaven on earth.

This is just the gist of our trip. I hope everyone enjoys the next month of pictures and probably the month after that.
